A meeting of the civic association

Next Civic Association Meeting: January 27, 2025 7:30 – 9:00 PM

The next meeting of the Franklin Knolls Civic Association (FKCA) is Monday, January 27 at 7:30 PM at Eastern Middle School in the cafeteria. The school is on East Franklin Avenue right next to University Blvd (see the map below).

Agenda:

  • Upcoming events in 2025: the block party, a neighborhood cleanup, and a community yard sale
  • 3 guest speakers:
    • Staff from Councilmember Kate Stewart’s office
    • Lauren Stamm from the Montgomery County Planning Office
    • Brian Ditzier from the Sierra Club to discuss the 495/beltway expansion
  • Election for all board positions:
    • President – Chief Executive Officer of the Association. They are responsible for the administration of the association, appointment standing or special committees, calls all meetings, and presides over those meetings
    • Vice President – All duties of the president shall devolve upon the VP during the president’s absence, and the VP will assist the president in their duties
    • Secretary – Responsible for recording the minutes of the meetings, correspondence from the association to outside individuals or groups and assist with the publishing of the newsletter
    • Treasurer – Responsible for the Association’s bank account and keeper of the budgetary records.

Neighborhood Yard Sale: Sat May 6 9a-1p

We will have a neighborhood yard sale this Saturday. Email chrismhulton@gmail.com if you’d like to be a seller. We will set up on the median strip on Franklin Avenue between University Blvd and Burgess Ln.

Neighborhood Cleanup: This Saturday!

Please join us this Saturday, April 22 at 9am. We will meet at the neighborhood sign on Franklin Avenue at University Blvd.

Bring gloves and any tools that might be useful for weeding. Mostly, we will be cleaning up trash in the neighborhood and on the trail leading to the creek.
